911 calls released in connection with wrong-way driving incident

BAYSIDE -- Milwaukee County sheriff's deputies cited their 31st wrong-way driver on Sunday, November 11th. On Tuesday, November 13th, the related 911 and rescue calls made about the incident were released to the public.

The driver was apparently traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of I-43 from the county line around 5:30 p.m. Bayside police were notified and the vehicle was stopped just north of Brown Deer Rd. on I-43.

The 82-year-old female driver apparently entered the free on the Port Washington off ramp -- and told deputies she was confused.

The woman was issued a citation for driving the wrong way on a divided highway. A report will also be sent to the Dept. of Transportation to determine if the driver will be required to take a driver license retest.
