85-year-old man dies after being struck by vehicle in the Town of Delavan

DELAVAN -- An 85-year-old man has died after being struck by a vehicle traveling on Highway 11 in the Town of Delavan.

The accident occurred on Friday, August 7th around 11 a.m.

Police say a vehicle, operated by Brittany Dixon of Elkhorn, was traveling westbound on Highway 11, collided with a truck and trailer that was stopped on the shoulder of the road.

The 85-year-old Elkhorn man had been standing near the rear of the trailer and was struck by the vehicle driven by Dixon.

The man sustained severe injuries and was transported to Lakeland Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The passenger in the vehicle driven by Dixen, a 22-year-old woman from Delavan, was transported to Lakeland Medical Center where she was then flown Flight for Life to Aurora Medical Center in Summit for her injuries.

Dixon was transported to Janesville Mercy Hospital for her injuries.

The accident is now being investigated by the Town of Delavan Police Department with the assistance from the Walworth County Sheriff's Department.

At this time, it is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in this crash.

The names of both the 85-year-old man and the passenger in Dixon's car will not be released until family is notified.
