58-year-old Greendale man drowns in Minnesota lake

GREENWOOD TOWNSHIP, Minnesota — Sheriff's officials say a boater from Wisconsin has drowned in a northeastern Minnesota lake.

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Department says 58-year-old Richard Dziewit of Greendale  was apparently thrown from a boat on Lake Vermilion Monday night.

Two people in another boat spotted Dziewit treading water about 8 p.m. while his boat was spinning circles around him.

Authorities say the two people were able to pull Dziewit's boat away from him, but he disappeared under water. Searchers recovered his body about 2½ hours later.
