5 hurt in 4-vehicle crash on Highway 57 in Sheboygan County; 3 citations issued

SHEBOYGAN COUNTY -- Five people were transported to hospitals after a crash involving four vehicles Friday, December 8th.

It happened around 4:30 p.m. on State Highway 57 at County Road A, in the Town of Rhine.

Sheboygan County sheriff's officials said one person was cited for operating with a revoked license after this crash, and another was cited for inattentive driving. A third person was cited for operating with a suspended license.

The crash involved a Ford F-150, a Chevy Camaro, a Subaru Impreza and a Subaru Outback.

Three people in the Ford F-150 (which was pulling a car hauling a trailer) were hurt -- the 25-year-old driver from Hilbert (who was cited for inattentive driving), a 28-year-old male passenger from Lomira, and a 20-year-old female passenger from Poy Sippi.

One person the Camaro was hurt -- the 20-year-old male driver from Sheboygan, who was cited for operating with a suspended license.

No one in the Impreza was hurt. The 23-year-old male driver from Sheboygan was cited for operating with a revoked license. A minor passenger was in a child seat at the time.

One person in the Outback was hurt -- the 49-year-old female driver from Kiel.

State Highway 57 was closed to traffic for approximately 4 hours in order to conduct the investigation.

A preliminary investigation has revealed two passenger vehicles and the pickup truck were all southbound on Highway 57, and the first vehicle slowed to turn east on to County Road A.  The second vehicle also slowed to turn and the operator of the pickup struck the second vehicle from behind and caused it to spin into the northbound Highway 57 traffic lane and into the path of another vehicle.  The truck then collided into the rear of the first vehicle and the trailer became detached.

The crash is still under investigation at this time.

All of the patients were transported to the hospital by ambulance.
