23-year-old woman crashes through two fences, garage in Mount Pleasant

MOUNT PLEASANT -- A 23-year-old woman, accused of driving intoxicated, drove a vehicle through a stockade fence and then into a garage located on Richard Avenue off of Highway 32 in Mount Pleasant.

The incident occurred shortly after 6 a.m. Saturday morning, October 10th.

Police say the woman was traveling southbound on Highway 32 when she lost control of her vehicle. She crossed over the northbound lanes of the highway, went into the ditch, struck a road sign and headed toward the dead end of Richard Avenue.

The 23-year-old woman then struck a wooden stockade fence, then a second fence before driving through a yard and into a garage -- impacting a collector vehicle that was inside.

Police say the woman was transported to Wheaton-Franciscan St. Mary's for non-life threatening injuries.

The garage was structurally compromised due to the impact of the woman's vehicle.
