16-year-old Merton girl injured after rollover crash on I-94
WAUKESHA -- Waukesha County Sheriff's deputies, along with the City of Pewaukee and Town of Brookfield fire departments responded to a single-vehicle rollover crash on I-94 and Redford Boulevard Sunday afternoon.
Officials say it happened around 2:30 p.m., and a Pontiac G6 was on its roof off the right shoulder of I-94. A 16-year-old girl from Merton was partially ejected and trapped under the vehicle.
Flight for Life transported the girl to Children's Hospital. Officials say she's expected to survive, though she sustained "substantial injuries."
Officials say the car was westbound on I-94 traveling in the center lane and failed to negotiate the slight left curve at the Redford Boulevard overpass. The vehicle drove into the gore area, crossed over the on ramp and overturned three to four times.
Officials say fatigue or inattentive driving may be factors, and they continue to investigate.
