11-year-old dead, teen injured after single-vehicle crash

WALWORTH CO. -- The Walworth County Sheriff's Office says an 11-year-old girl is dead and a 17-year-old girl sustained critical injuries following a single-vehicle accident Wednesday night, October 24th in Walworth County.

Officials say three juveniles, two 17 year olds and an 11-year-old, were traveling on Hwy. 89 just south of Island Road in the Town of Whitewater at approximately 6:15 p.m. when they struck a utility pole.

Officials say the 17-year-old female driver was able to exit the vehicle. The 17-year-old female passenger and the 11-year-old girl were trapped inside the vehicle with critical injures and had to be extricated from the car.

The 11-year-old girl from Delavan died at the scene of the crash.

The 17-year-old passenger was transported to the hospital via Flight for Life for critical injuries.

No further details have been released at this time -- including the cause of the crash or the names of the victims.
