11 more doctors disciplined for writing fake sick notes
MADISON -- Eleven more doctors have been disciplined for their involvement in writing fake sick notes for Capitol demonstrators during the Act 10 protests.
This week, six doctors were reprimanded and five more received administrative warnings from Wisconsin's Medical Examining Board.
The notes were written in early 2011 after hundreds of teachers called in sick to demonstrate at the Capitol. School district officials required the absent employees to provide notes documenting a doctor visit. Teachers who failed to provide a legitimate excuse where docked in pay.
The protests erupted after Gov. Scott Walker proposed cutting collective bargaining rights for most state workers.
