Brave enough to take part in Milwaukee's Polar Plunge?
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- It's a New Year's Day tradition in Milwaukee that began in the 1920s. But you have to find a place deep inside you to take the Polar Plunge at Bradford Beach.
The event kicks off at noon on Wednesday, January 1st. Hundreds of people will be there to jump into Lake Michigan in their swimming gear.
There are complimentary shuttles running from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Check the Polar Plunge website for pickup points and routes. We're told there will be lots of free stuff handed out along the lakefront.
Those who are wishing to take part are strongly encouraged to bring loose-fitting clothes, towels, wool blankets, heating packs and even a sleeping bag to help warm back up after plunging into the water.
