MILWAUKEE -- Sunday, November 20th was the final day of the Holiday Folk Fair International, an annual event that takes place at State Fair Park's Exposition Center.
According to the event's website, the Holiday Folk Fair is a premier multicultural festival and a program of the International Institute of Wisconsin, which celebrates the cultural heritage of the people living in southeastern Wisconsin.
This year’s theme was “Celebrate the Culture of Water," and allowed guests the opportunity to learn the ways in which water and its symbolism is incorporated into music, food, dance, arts and crafts.
The three-day event offered guests the opportunity to travel around the world without leaving Wisconsin.
The Holiday Folk Fair featured the All Nations Theater with traditional music and dance, the World Café offering traditional dishes, the International Stage where young people performed their ethnic dances, the Tanzhauz (Music Pavilion) where attendees danced and sang along with a variety of musical stylings, the Coffee House where patrons enjoyed a beverage and baked goods while listening to talented musicians, Heritage Lane, with unique traditions and customs through interactive exhibits, the International Bazaar, where cultural artifacts created a unique shopping experience, and the Chef’s Stage featuring local chefs preparing traditional cuisine.
FOX6's Julie Collins was on hand at the Wisconsin State Fair Expo Center during FOX6 WakeUp News Sunday -- previewing the event's final day.
