Woman charged after leading police on high-speed chase

Sonja Hall

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- 40-year-old Sonja Hall of Milwaukee is facing on count of attempting to flee an officer and one count of misdemeanor bail jumping. This, after she allegedly led police on a high-speed chase on September 5th.

According to the criminal complaint, the high-speed chase began on eastbound I-94 in Jefferson County around 11:12 a.m. Police say the chase began after an officer attempted to stop Hall for a traffic violation.

During the pursuit, Hall allegedly traveled at speeds up to 110 m.p.h.

According to police,  Hall exited I-94 at State Highway 83. Hall then traveled through a red light at Heritage Drive and STH 83. Police say Hall continued southbound on STH 83 and turned left on Tara Drive. Hall then went westbound on Tara Drive and turned to go north on STH 83. Hall then drove into an empty parking lot, turned around, and began traveling westbound on Tara Drive. Hall then turned east on Heritage Drive, made a u-turn, turned right onto STH 83 and then entered the I-94 eastbound ramp.

According to the complaint, Hall was brought to a stop after traveling over a spike strip on eastbound I-94, just east of Brookfield Road. After the vehicle came to a stop, three occupants exited the vehicle on the driver's side and laid face down on the ground with their arms extended.

According to the complaint, Hall told police that she fled the officers because she had warrants for her arrest and didn't want to return to jail. She also stated that she put gas into the vehicle earlier in the day at an Oconomowoc gas station, and left without paying.

The complaint indicates Hall had nine warrants for her arrest. Two of the warrants were for Milwaukee County, one from Greenfield Police Department and six through Waukesha County. Police say the Waukesha County warrants were for a total of 19 charges related to retail theft, issuance of worthless checks and bail jumping charges.
