MILLIKEN, COLORADO (WITI) -- Some Colorado flooding victims are returning to their damaged homes and finding they have been victimized twice. First, their homes were damaged by Mother Nature, and then, their stuff was taken by thieves.

Dozens lined up this week at the Milliken Town Hall to get help with their emergency assistance applications.

However, it wasn't paperwork some were concerned about -- but rather, the work of thieves.

"Flooding was pretty bad, and then the house was ransacked," a Milliken resident told FOX6's Jeremy Ross.

"I feel violated. They're more than 'things.' They were mine," another resident said.

Anna Vasquez lives in the Martins Mobile Home Park. She says the flood took so much, but someone else took even more.

"Everything. My mother's wedding rings after she passed away. They left them for me," Vasquez said.

Vasquez says at least one person broke into her home over the weekend and took jewelry and electronics. Vasquez was one of 45 people evacuated due to the flooding, and when she returned, she discovered what was missing.

"I have her memory, her love, and that, nobody can take away from me. I just prayed that they need it more than I did," Vasquez said.
