COLORADO (WITI) -- A man walks into a gas station intent on robbing the place -- but he changes his mind when he recognizes the clerk! That's what Sheriff's officials say happened Wednesday, January 14th in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.
"I was going to rob this place, but I know you," the suspect told the gas station clerk, according to deputies.
FOX6's sister station KDVR in Denver reports the suspect asked the clerk: "Do you know me?"
When the clerk said "no," the suspect reportedly said "good" -- and walked out of the store -- giving the clerk a "thumbs up."
Shortly thereafter, deputies tell KDVR a nearby 7-Eleven store was robbed.
KDVR reports the 7-Eleven store is just over a mile away.
Witnesses told law enforcement officials the 7-Eleven robbery was committed by a man fitting the description of the suspect in the first incident.
Law enforcement officials are now seeking that suspect.
