Man facing sexual assault charges for Oak Leaf Trail attack
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A 43-year-old man has been charged with two counts of sexual assault for alleged attacks on two women on the Oak Leaf Trail on Tuesday, October 8th. One count is for second-degree sexual assault -- the other, fourth-degree sexual assault.
Tyrone Wilder of Milwaukee was taken into custody after authorities found him hiding in bushes along the trail and bleeding from the head. Wilder admitted to police that a woman hit him with her cell phone while he was "doing something he shouldn't have been doing."
The first victim says Wilder started running alongside her on the trail before eventually reaching out and touching her inappropriately.
A short time later, the criminal complaint indicates Wilder approached another woman.
The second victim says Wilder blocked her path on the trail before wrestling and pinning her to the ground, pulling down her pants and touching her inappropriately. The woman yelled for help and fought back, repeatedly hitting Wilder in the head with her cell phone and poking his eyes.
The woman yelled to a passerby to call 911 and Wilder took off.
Officers on bike patrol located Wilder in the area and took him into custody. Wilder told authorities he wasn't thinking clearly because he had been drinking and doesn't know what came over him.
If convicted, Wilder faces up to 40 years in prison plus $100,000 in fines.
