MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Upstream Arts and the Jewish Community Center are teaming up to provide programs for special needs children and young adults here in Milwaukee. The partnership includes three full weeks of interactive arts-based program that addresses social deficits common in children and adults with a variety of disabilities.
This month Upstream will be presenting two programs at the JCC:
The Art of Social Skills
For Sunday STARS (ages 5-21) February 22 (2-3:00 pm) $30
For Young Adults (ages 12-21) February 23-26 (5-6:00 pm) $135
In the Art of Social Skills, participants learn and create alongside some of the most accomplished actors, directors, playwrights, musicians, and visual artists in the region, while learning to express themselves in healthy ways and interact appropriately with others.
The Art of Access
For educators, artists, curators, support staff and organizations. February 25 (5:30-7:30 pm) $25
The Art of Access includes a two-hour interactive training session, examining how to “universally design” performances, exhibits, educational programming, and other events for people of all ages and abilities.
Upstream Arts programs will continue at JCC in May and November.
