How car recalls get reported
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) officially start car recalls after receiving complaints from consumers.
Chrysler (FCA US) is recalling more than 20,000 Jeep and Dodge vehicles over faulty display panels that could increase the risk of a crash.
The recall was issued April 23, but letters won’t be sent to vehicle owners until next month. Here’s what to know:

According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, the recall involves certain 2024-2025 Jeep Wagoneer S and Dodge Charger electric vehicles. They’re being recalled because of an instrument panel display that fails to show critical safety information, such as gear selection and warning lights, increasing the risk of a crash.

The NHTSA says 11,743 Jeep Wagoneers and 8,528 Dodge Charger EVs have been recalled.

What you can do:
You can enter your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the NHTSA website starting Thursday to see if your vehicle is included in the recall. Recall letters are expected to be mailed to vehicle owners on May 21, but in the meantime owners can contact FCA customer service at 1-800-853-1403. The fix will include a software update.
