Drivers take note: Long-term Zoo Interchange ramp closures set for Sunday night

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) says drivers who regularly pass through the Zoo Interchange will want to start planning alternative routes because starting on Monday, March 9th, there are some significant ramp closures taking effect.

The ramp from northbound I-894/US 45 to westbound I-94 will be closing down. This ramp is expected to remain closed through late 2015.

WisDOT officials are also shutting down the ramp from westbound I-94 to southbound I-894/US 45. These closures will be long-term closures -- and help facilitate construction of the new interchange. This ramp is expected to remain closed through fall 2017.

"When the traveling public goes out on Monday morning, you know, we always say plan ahead because the old routes you used to take may not be available anymore," Mark Klipstein with the Wisconsin DOT said.
