Daniel Koepke faces new child sex assault charge

WAUKESHA CO. (WITI) -- 18-year-old Daniel Koepke now faces a new criminal charge of first-degree child sexual assault for allegedly having contact with a 13-year-old girl.

A Washington County judge sentenced Koepke to 22 months in prison plus five years of extended supervision on Thursday, January 24th. Koepke pleaded no contest to charges he sexually assaulted a five-year-old child he was sitting. The plea was part of a deal with prosecutors.

The criminal complaint filed against Koepke in Waukesha County indicates he inappropriately touched a pre-teen girl in the basement of a Sussex home in summer 2012. The complaint says the incident happened during a sleepover the victim's brother was having. It indicates Koepke was among the boys staying over for the night.

If convicted, Koepke could face up to 60 years in prison.
