MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A construction crane toppled over in the Zoo Interchange construction site on Wednesday afternoon, April 1st.
Officials with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) tell FOX6 News the apparatus that tipped over is a 25-ton crane; it's one of the smallest pieces of equipment on the construction site. There was an operator in the crane but that operator was not hurt.
As a result of the incident, there was some damage to a freeway barrier that was being poured along the southbound lanes of US-45.
To get the crane righted, WisDOT indicates there will likely be a freeway closure of US-45 after evening rush hour. WisDOT and the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office plan to coordinate the closure.
Officials with OSHA have been dispatched to the scene of the incident.
