Botched robbery led to first of three shootings that kept police busy Tuesday

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee police were on the scene of three separate shooting incidents in the city on Tuesday, May 6th.

The first occurred in the Citgo gas station parking lot near N. 38th Street and Hampton Avenue.

Police say a man was shot in the groin during a botched robbery attempt.

It happened around 2:00 p.m.

Police say the victim -- a 24-year-old man, was at the gas station when he was approached by a man wearing all black and a ski mask.

The suspect demanded money, and police say the suspect and victim began to struggle.

During the struggle, the 24-year-old man was shot. He was taken to the hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.

Police say the suspect fled in a 2010-2014 Brown Honda Accord driven by another person.

Police haven't made any arrests.



The second shooting incident happened near the intersection of N. 29th Street and Lisbon Avenue around 5:00 p.m.

Police say a 25-year-old woman was shot in an apparent prostitution-related argument, as she fled the suspect's vehicle.

The woman was taken to the hospital, and is expected to survive.

Police say the suspect is Hispanic, and was last seen fleeing in the area in a 2002 tan Cadillac four-door vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing.



A third shooting occurred just after 6:00 p.m. in the 4600 block of N. 76th Street.

Police say a 24-year-old man presented himself at a Milwaukee Fire Department engine house with a gunshot wound.

He was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The circumstances surrounding this shooting are under investigation.
