Demolition of 76th St. bridge to begin
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Drivers should expect some big backups in the Zoo Interchange Friday night into Saturday morning. Crews will be shutting down a stretch of I-94 in both directions -- to demolish the 76th St. bridge.
Traffic will be re-routed on Bluemound Rd. or Greenfield Ave. -- and drivers travelling on US-45 and I-894 will be directed there as well for access to the east.
"Consider regional alternate routes such as taking the by-pass or Brown Deer Road to the north are great alternate roads as well," said Ryan Luck of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. "We'll be placing sand on the freeway, dropping the entire structure down, rubblizing it, trucking it off and sweeping up all the debris and reopening the freeway prior to 9 a.m. Saturday."
