24 high school students from Milwaukee headed to Poland for World Youth Day
MILWAUKEE -- High school students from Milwaukee on Monday, July 25th were on their way to Krakow, Poland for World Youth Day.
World Youth Day is a worldwide meeting with Pope Francis that takes place every three years.
Twenty-four high school students from Milwaukee will join the expected three million others from around the world for the event.
They will camp out in a tent in Krakow for the week before heading to Warsaw for volunteer work.
World Youth Day is a time for youth to share hope with others and deepen their faith.
"I'm hoping that these young girls we're bringing really grow in their faith, their society and for the Pope and they all grow. I mean, we can all be better people day by day so I hope they take steps into improving our society," Sheila Hamill said.
Of the three million people expected to attend World Youth Day, 30,000 of them are expected to be from the United States.
