ST. LOUIS -- The Brewers and Cardinals were scoreless through five innings Thursday afternoon at Busch Stadium before the Redbirds pulled away for a 4-nothing victory. The loss left Milwaukee with a 2 and 7 record so far this season, worst in the major leagues.
Mike Fiers allowed four hits to the first five batters in the sixth inning and departed while taking the loss. John Lackey was the winner for St. Louis.
The Brewers managed only six singles and also saw All-Star outfielder Carlos Gomez go on the 15 day disabled list because of a hamstring injury.
