Victims of hit-and-run crash at 39th and Hadley laid to rest
MILWAUKEE -- An eight-year-old boy and his grandmother are laid to rest on Friday, June 10th. Victims in a hit-and-run crash on 39th and Hadley two weeks ago. Police had arrested the person believed to be behind the wheel of the stolen vehicle responsible in the crash, but FOX6 has learned the suspect is no longer in custody.
Friday, dozens gathered to say goodbye to eight-year-old Taeshawn Griffin and his grandmother, 46-year-old Danielle Triggs.

It was a very emotional service.
"This is my mom and my baby," said Taeshawn's mother.
A heartbreaking goodbye from family members.
"Son, I want you to know you will never be forgotten," said Taeshawn's uncle.
"Soon you should become the king of your very own castle in the sky. I love you, dad," said Taeshawn's uncle.
Two weeks after a stolen car crashed into theirs at 39th and Hadley, as they and other family members are on their way to a park.
"She and Taeshawn were my life and as all of you know, were just ripped from us," said Trigg's sister.
Triggs was pronounced dead at the scene -- Griffin died from his injuries days later.
"Then I went to vigil and the vigil gave me hope that love really does conquer all. The support that was given to my family was unlike anything I'd ever experienced," said Trigg's boyfriend.

That support shown at a vigil continues at the funeral. Support that is needed more than ever, as questions remain -- including who is responsible.
Those in the other vehicle back on May 27th ran, while their faces were caught on camera no one remains in custody.
Milwaukee police continue to work to identify the passenger in the car that hit theirs on May 27th. They had arrested a suspect they believed to be the driver, and passed along charges to the District Attorney but no charges have been filed yet.
