MEQUON (WITI) -- Mequon Police and Fire/Rescue officials on Sunday evening, June 22nd had to pull a man out of the Milwaukee River.
Police were called out to the scene just south of Pioneer Road for a 911 call regarding a capsized fishing vessel and a man in the water in distress.
Officials discovered a man hanging onto a tree branch in the middle of the river -- in an extremely swift current.
Mequon Rescue personnel and dive team members entered the river, assisted by the Mequon Fire boat and pulled the man from the water.
The 50-year-old Cedarburg man was evaluated and released.
