Two men offer to fix driveway, end up stealing nearly $60,000 from homeowner
BROOKFIELD -- He's served a career dishing out sentences to bad guys but this time, a retired Milwaukee County judge is fooled by a pair of crooks.
Thursday, October 22nd in Brookfield, John Foley says it was convenience that earned two men his trust.

"These guys walked up and asked if they could give me a quote on sealing my driveway," said Foley.
The two "salesman" were in luck.
"My driveway does need sealing so I said come on out," said Foley.
Foley allowed one of the men inside his home to write up a contract, he thought the other man had gone back to his truck.
"He was walking back and forth, apparently casing my house," said Foley.
Hours later, after returning from dinner, there was a surprise. The men had returned early...with a different job in mind.
"Apparently while we were gone, they took the safe out. It was about a 400-pound safe," said Foley.

Inside the safe, thousands of collectible coins and a stockpile of silver.
"Oh, I would say the total value is close to $60,000," said Foley.
An amount that makes him sick -- especially for a man who has stared so many crooks in the face. The honorable Judge Foley, served for Milwaukee County Courts for nearly five decades. He says he's not used to bad guys showing up at his house.
"They were both in their middle 50's and both very nice people," said Foley.
Nearby, at Greater Milwaukee Coin and Jewelry in Waukesha, owner Ken Konag says they're always on the lookout for this kind of stolen loot.
"We've caught people. Or if someone is suspicious, we'll let the police know," said Konag.
Konag says what may help spot the judge's stolen goods: some of his coins are unique. Part of the collection includes silver coins with a "Bills Casino" imprint.
"That seems a lot more specific so that would help," said Konag.
The retired judge wants to spread the word; there may be burglars on the loose in the Brookfield neighborhood.
These two men were last seen an an old black pickup truck. They could be in their 50's, one white, one possibly Filipino.
