"They don`t wait for something to happen:" Parents thank Pewaukee school officials, police after threat
PEWAUKEE -- Students in the Pewaukee School District returned to class on Monday, October 5th after a threatening letter shut down all schools within the district on Friday, October 2nd -- and forced the cancellation and rescheduling of homecoming activities for Pewaukee High School this past weekend.

It was back to business as usual on Pewaukee's campus Monday with one major difference. Students had to go through metal detectors -- an added safety precaution after last week's threat.
Officials say the letter said: "There will be a school shooting on Friday, October 2nd."
"They don`t wait for something to happen. They get in front of it," Chris Krasovich, Pewaukee School District parent said.
Students were not in class on Friday, and the homecoming parade, the pep rally and Friday night's homecoming football game were cancelled.
The game was rescheduled for Saturday, and the homecoming dance took place Saturday night.

As all of this was going on, some parents wondered how they could help.
"It got to the point where I just said 'I don`t have a solution, but I can tell you Monday morning I'm going in and thanking those teachers because they are the front lines keeping our kids safe when we can't be there with them,'" Krasovich said.
Krasovich put the word out.
"I went from saying 'I could start at Costco and grab a couple of muffins if anyone wanted to pitch in a few bucks,' to having almost $1,600! That`s a lot of muffins!" Krasovich said.
Parents thank staff at Pewaukee schools after threat
On Monday morning, deliveries were made to staff at each of the Pewaukee School District's schools, the district offices, and the Pewaukee Police Department.
"Everyone we met was so grateful and made us feel so humbled," Krasovich said.
Krasovich says the remaining money will hopefully be used for something that will impact the schools, and they remain positive, despite what could have been a negative situation.

"Once you`re a mom, it's your job to worry. That never goes away completely. But I trust implicitly in the safety measures they`ve put in place in Pewaukee, and then some," Krasovich said.
On Tuesday, school officials will discuss what will stay and what will go as far as the added security measures, such as the metal detectors that have been in use.
The superintendent says everything went smoothly on Monday and students got to class on time.
