"There's a body on the road:" Ozaukee County releases 911 calls from fatal I-43 rollover crash

OZAUKEE COUNTY -- New documents and emergency calls have been released from a fatal rollover crash that occurred on I-43 near Falls Road last Tuesday night, June 7th on Ozaukee County.

The Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office says that's where 23-year-old Janae Lopez was ejected from her car shortly before midnight.

Caller: "There's a body on the road."
Dispatch: "Can you tell us if anyone is injured?"
Caller: Yeah. They're laying in the streets. They're laying in the street. They're on Highway 43 right off exit 92 -- there's a serious accident here."

Witnesses say Lopez swerved into the northbound lanes, hit the median and rolled her car into the southbound lanes."

Caller: "We just got on the highway and we're just going and we just seen the car flipping in front of us and then the body flew out the car."
Dispatch: "Okay."
Caller: "And then the semi ran the body over."

 

Lopez died at the scene.

Drugs are alcohol are not believed to be factors.

I-43 southbound from State Highway 60 was shut down from 11:55 p.m. until 2:23 a.m. until the initial investigation was completed.

This incident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
