RACINE -- Racine police say a 17-year-old accidentally shot himself while climbing a fence in a park Tuesday night, January 8th.
Police say the teen was cutting through a yard in Racine when he encountered a fence he had to climb in order to gain entry into a nearby park.
Authorities say the teen took the gun he was carrying out of his waist band in an attempt to avoid injury while climbing the fence when he was shot.
Police say the teen was transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
