MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee police investigated Thursday, June 21st, a suspicious device found in the street near 37th and Villard.
The device looked like a bundle of dynamite or flares. However, the police department's bomb disposal unit said the device was non-explosive.
A worker at a nearby home repair shop said he picked the device up Wednesday while doing work. He said he knew it wasn't an explosive device, but wanted to get it out of the neighborhood, and didn't believe someone would think it was real.
"I touched it and I knew it didn't weigh like a real bomb, so instead of let the kids run in that house or some idiot get it and go rob a bank with it, I figured I'll take it back, and we'll give it to the boss and dismantle it," Ronald Sargent, who found the device said.
The area was reopened by 11:00 a.m. Thursday, and no one was injured or arrested in the incident.
