MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The Milwaukee Common Council on Tuesday, June 24th recognized the first same-sex couple to be married in Wisconsin.
Jose Fernado Conteras and Matthew Schrek introduced at Tuesday's Common Council meeting.
The couple moved to Milwaukee in 2010, and got engaged that same year.
The day the same-sex marriage ban was struck down in Wisconsin, they drove to the Milwaukee County Courthouse and got married.
A week after a federal judge struck down the ban, that same judge ordered that all same-sex marriages stop int he state.
