Edwood Hastings
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A Milwaukee County judge found probable cause on Thursday, August 15th to hold 48-year-old Edwood Hastings over for trial. A preliminary hearing was also scheduled for scheduled for August 26th.
Hastings of Milwaukee faces a criminal charge of hit-and-run resulting in death in connection with a crash that happened on Milwaukee’s east side on Sunday evening, August 11th. Andrea Barringer was killed in that wreck.
According to the four-page criminal complaint, Hastings hit and killed Barringer as she was crossing the street at Farwell and Irving. He then allegedly fled from the scene.
The complaint indicates on Monday, August 12th, Hastings walked in to the Municipal Court building in Milwaukee and turned himself in — indicating “he was the person driving the tan SUV that had hit someone last night on N. Farwell Avenue.” He told the officer who he turned himself in to that “he briefly stopped but freaked out and drove home.” He apparently “wanted to see his family before he turned himself in.”
If convicted, Hastings faces up to 25 years in prison and $100,000 in fines.
