MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- 28-year-old Jimmy Patterson of Milwaukee is facing one count of felony murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon. This, in connection to the shooting death of Jose Rivera.

Rivera was shot while sitting inside a vehicle near 32nd and National on May 5th. The incident allegedly occurred during an attempted robbery.
According to the criminal complaint, Rivera was picked up at his residence by a friend, and then they drove to another location with the intent to buy marijuana.
Once they arrived at that location, the driver stopped the vehicle in front of the home and then sent a text message to the individual who was going to sell them marijuana.
The complaint indicates that approximately five minutes later that individual exited his home and approached Rivera and his friend.
At that time, the complaint indicates that a green vehicle pulled up to the scene, approached the vehicle with a gun and stated, "Don't move, you know what time it is."
The suspect then fired "one or two" rounds into the car, striking Rivera.
According to the criminal complaint, the man who was driving with Rivera picked Jimmy Patterson out of a photo array on May 8th.
If convicted of all charges, Patterson could face up to 45 years in prison and $25,000 in fines.
