MADISON (WITI) — Randall Berth of Watertown has been charged with 20 counts of possession of child pornography following the execution of a search warrant at Berth's home by the DOJ and Watertown police.
Officials executed a search warrant at the home of Berth, located at 804 Pheasant Run in Watertown. According to the criminal complaint, agents seized three USB drives and a computer hard drive from the residence.
According to the criminal complaint, a forensic review of images recovered from one of the seized USB drives uncovered images consistent with child pornography.
In an interview with investigators at the Watertown Police Department, Berth said he has been addicted to child pornography for about three to four years, according to the complaint.
The criminal complaint indicates Berth told officials he first discovered child pornography while searching for music approximately seven to eight years ago. Berth told officials he had never had sexual contact with children, and that he had no interest or intention in having sexual contact with children -- according to the complaint.
The criminal complaint indicates Berth told officials he had been trying to delete any child pornography in his possession in order to keep his wife and son from seeing it.
A preliminary hearing in this case is scheduled for March 28th in Jefferson County Circuit Court.
