"Life is not the same:" Family mourns loss of woman, young boy killed in 39th and Hadley crash

MILWAUKEE -- Two lives lost and now an arrest. An 18-year-old is in custody in connection to the double fatal crash that occurred near 39th and Hadley on Friday, May 27th. Milwaukee police say that suspect was driving a stolen SUV that plowed into another car carrying seven relatives, killing two of them.

Friday, June 3rd relatives say the arrest made helps but they are hoping another will be made soon.

"My life is not the same," said Deidre Williams, relative of victims.

The signs of grief surround the sidewalk at 39th and Hadley.

"I don't know what to say. There's nothing I can say. I won't be the same. We all are still hurt," said Williams.

It's the spot where just one week ago, a tragic crash took two lives.

Police say an 18-year-old driving a stolen SUV ran a stop sign, hitting a car filled with seven people. Two of those victims have since died. They are 46-year-old Danielle Triggs and eight-year-old Taeshawn Griffin, Triggs' grandson.

Police say two suspects ran from the car that hit them. Cell phone video captured one of them and police say that driver is now in custody.

"I'm glad they found someone in connection to this," said Williams.

"Learning that the police had someone in custody, I think was a burden lifted for them," said JD Funeral Home Owner, Jimmy Davis.

Jimmy Davis is a spokesman for the family. He says their hearts are still heavy knowing there is still another suspect out there.

"Continue to wrap your arms around them, continue to pray for them and keep them uplifted because they need that right now," said Davis.

Prays this family is grateful for as they try to heal at a time when it seems impossible.

"Somebody knows something. If you know who it is, just come forward," said Williams.

Anyone with information about the second suspect is asked to contact police.

Meantime, funerals for both victims will be held next Friday.
