JAPAN (WITI) -- "I have wanted to kill someone since childhood. It could have been anybody." That's what a 19-year-old Japanese college student is accused of saying when she admitted to murdering an elderly woman.
77-year-old Tomoko Mori was discovered dead in the 19-year-old suspect's apartment, The Japan Times reports.
The Nagoya University student admitted to authorities she murdered the woman by hitting her head with an ax, and strangling her with a scarf.
The victim and suspect became acquainted when the victim tried to persuade the suspect to join a religious group, The Japan Times reports. The suspect allegedly told authorities she was "annoyed" she was being asked to join the group.
The 77-year-old victim apparently went missing back in December.
The college student, who is not being identified because she is a minor under Japan law was arrested Tuesday, January 27th. The ax believed to have been used to kill the 77-year-old woman was discovered in the suspect's apartment.
