TOWN OF RUTLAND -- A grass fire kept Dane County firefighters busy through most of the night Saturday, July 14th in the Town of Rutland. Officials say the fire burned through almost 200 acres of land.
Firefighters were called to the scene around 6:00 Saturday evening.
Officials say the fire was almost a half-mile long, and a half-mile wide.
30 fire units responded to the scene, and were finally able to gain control of the blaze after about two hours.
Officials say the fire burned 175 acres of land, and crews spent much of the night putting out hot spots.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
