SOUTH MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Firefighters battled a blaze in South Milwaukee on Thursday afternoon, March 14th just before 3:00 p.m.
It happened at a two-story apartment building in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue.
When crews arrived on scene, they saw smoke coming from the building, so they upgraded the fire to a working still (otherwise known as a second alarm).
Firefighting crews from Caledonia, Cudahy, St. Francis, Oak Creek, and the 128th all were called in to help.
One male juvenile suffered burns, but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. He was taken to St. Luke’s South Shore for treatment.
The building where the fire broke contains two stories, with a business on the lower floor and apartments on the top floor. The fire is believed to have started in one of the rear apartments. All residents have been displaced as a result of the fire. The Red Cross was called in to assist them.
Fire crews were on scene for a little over two hours.
