HARTFORD -- Firefighters in the Town of Hartford battled a fire in a detached garage in which there was an explosion on Friday morning, January 11th.
The explosion happened shortly after 9 a.m. on Eagle Point Dr. in Hartford. The 79-year-old homeowner was in the garage at the time of the explosion. He suffered burns to his face, arms and hands. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Hartford firefighters got assistance from St. Lawrence, Slinger, Allenton, Richfield, Neosho and Woodland fire departments as well as Lifestar ambulance.
Sheriff’s investigators and fire officials continue to investigate the cause of the explosion and fire. The structure was heated by a natural gas heater and did have electrical service to the building.
A residence across the street was also reported to have sustained interior damage from the blast resulting in cracked drywall to several walls and ceiling areas.
