WALWORTH COUNTY -- 31-year-old Steven Springsteen-Hensel of Elkhorn appeared in a Walworth County courtroom Thursday for a bond hearing. This, after Delavan police say he was arrested during an undercover sex sting on Tuesday.
FOX6 News has learned Springsteen-Hensel helped coach kids trying to learn wrestling.
In court Thursday, it was discovered that Delavan Police Detective Joaquin Alonzo received information from a boy who was 17 years old at the time, that Springsteen-Hensel had allegedly sent him a text message regarding oral sex.
That boy had attended a Southern Lakes Wrestling Center where Springsteen-Hensel helped coach kids. Thursday, a group of Springsteen-Hensel's former wrestlers were in court to support him
Detective Alonzo reportedly used the boy's phone to set up a meeting with Springsteen-Hensel. Springsteen-Hensel allegedly offered to pick the boy up from the Phoenix Middle School parking lot in Delavan.
Delavan Police Chief Timothy O'Neill said Springsteen-Hensel had no idea that the "boy" he was chatting with was actually an undercover officer.
Springsteen-Hensel reportedly admitted to these acts, but hasn't yet been charged. The concern for the state prosecution is that Springsteen-Hensel does not have a permanent address.
Bond was set at $15,000 cash for Springsteen-Hensel in court Thursday, and he was ordered to have no contact with minors, as well as no computer usage and no cell phone usage.
Springsteen-Hensel could not post that bond, and is still in custody. His next court date is set for Wednesday, May 23rd.
Students at Phoenix Middle School were notified Wednesday, May 16th regarding what happened in the parking lot. School leaders say the arrest happened very fast.
A website says Springsteen-Hensel is a director at a non-profit wrestling gym in Elkhorn, who has been training kids directly for years.
Delavan police are asking anyone with information about Springsteen-Hensel to call police.
