MADISON (AP) — Republican state Sen. Neal Kedzie, of Elkhorn, is retiring after more than 17 years in the state Legislature.
Kedzie announced Tuesday that he would not seek a fourth term in the Senate. He is the fourth Republican to announce his retirement from the Senate this year. Three Democratic incumbents are also not running for re-election.
Kedzie was first elected to the Senate in 2002 after serving four years in the Assembly.
Kedzie says in a statement that he is retiring to spend more time with his family and pursue other opportunities outside of state government.
Kedzie's 11th Senate District is in southeastern Wisconsin and includes portions of Jefferson, Waukesha, Rock, Walworth and Kenosha counties.
