Rescue dog rescues owner
RACINE -- Linda Hermann of Racine rescued her dog, Taylor back in August, and just recently, little Taylor was able to return the favor, by saving Hermann's life.
Shih-tzu Taylor had been dumped in a port-a-potty. Hermann opening up her home to Taylor was the final step in a long journey that saved Taylor's life.
"I saw Taylor's picture and immediately fell in love with him and his story," Hermann.
A few weeks ago, Hermann had prepared dinner for company and went to the restroom.
"I was on the toilet, and the room just started spinning, and the next thing I knew, I woke up, and I'd passed out," Hermann said.
Little Taylor ran up and down the hallway, trying to get the attention of Hermann's friends.
"Taylor thought he was Lassie and 'my mom needs help!' -- and he was letting them know," Hermann said.
Hermann says it's a good thing Taylor acted so quickly.
"At the same time, my blood sugar level, my blood pressure and my pulse all dropped at the same time," Hermann said.
The paramedics were called, and Hermann is now doing fine -- as is Taylor, the rescue dog who rescued his own.
"He's a special little dog. A smart little guy," Hermann said.
Since that day, Taylor now gets liver sausage on a regular basis as a special treat.
