Diversity job fair held in Milwaukee
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The 13th Annual Diversity Employment Day Career Fair for Milwaukee was held on September 5, 2013 at the Milwaukee County War Memorial Center. This huge annual event attracts over 700 top candidates from Milwaukee.
Patrick Burks is looking to turn his life around. As a 23-year-old father of two, he's in his first semester at Bryan and Stratton as a business major. He's hoping to leave all those part-time jobs behind.
"Just looking to start a career. I'm tired of being unemployed and going from mediocre job to mediocre job. Just want to start something serious," said Burks.
"We have employers that are looking for professional level candidates, entry-level candidates. If you're just out of college or if you're looking to get a new job. So it's across the board," said Neal Morrison, City Career Fair organizer.
Morrison says all the companies attending the career fair are looking to hire. But it's not just any employee they're looking for.
"They're looking for candidates to help diversify their workforce," said Morrison. "So they may be looking for candidates from the multicultural communities, the diverse communities, which includes veterans, people with disabilities as well, and even mature workers."
