Crews called to home for fire for the second time
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Fire crews were on the scene of a two-alarm fire that broke out in the 2200 block of N. Newhall Street late Saturday night, August 3rd.
Fire officials confirmed with FOX6 News that crews have responded to a fire at the home before, but the home was vacant this time.
Saturday's fire burned the back of the home, but fire crews do not have a damage estimate at this time.
Fire officials have not yet determined a cause of the fire, only saying the fire remains under investigation.
Firefighters were able to save a business to the north and a home to the south from the fire. That home was evacuated as crews fought the fire.
Mike Wilson and his family live in a home nearby, and saw the flames Saturday night.
"The firefighters just said 'you need to get out,'" Wilson said.
Wilson and his family were evacuated as a precaution, and as it turned out, the fire did cause some damage to their home.
"The windows broken because of the heat from the flames -- because the heat was so intense last night, it melted the frame of the window. As soon as they showed up last night, they immediately started putting water on our house," Wilson said.
On Sunday, a fire investigator spoke with Wilson and took another look at the home.
"I would speculate it was not an accident. As to who or why, I would have no idea," Wilson said.
Neighbors say the home was twice foreclosed on, and now, the fire has taken its toll.
A previous fire at the home occurred on November 13th.
