SOUTH MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- South Milwaukee Fire officials say the careless use of smoking materials caused a house fire in the 700 block of Marshall Avenue.
It happened just after 6:30 p.m.
Fire officials say upon their arrival on scene, smoke was observed coming from the second floor of the single-family dwelling.
A man living in the home was able to get himself out of the home before firefighters arrived.
Fire crews entered the home and found heavy smoke on the second floor -- and a fire in the bathroom.
The fire was quickly extinguished and salvage and overhaul operations were conducted.
No one was injured.
