Before stuffing the turkey, some help Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin stuff the bus

BROOKFIELD -- Before stuffing the turkey this Thanksgiving, some helped to stuff the bus.

Wednesday, November 25th marked the 18th annual "Stuff the Bus" food drive for Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin.

People stopped by the Brookfield South Pick 'n Save store to donate non-perishable food items.

There were bags filled with Thanksgiving sides that folks could purchase for just $5 -- and they could also donate money.

Just $1 would provide three meals for someone in need.

Despite the economy getting stronger, Feeding America officials say the need is still great.

"We can`t rest and say 'OK the troubles are behind us.' One in eight people in our area do not know where their next meal is coming from. For children it`s even worse. It`s one in five children who do not know where their next meal is coming from," Lori Holly with Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin.

The goal this year was to raise 200,000 meals.
