MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Twelve people have been displaced after a fire broke out at a 14 unit apartment complex near 45th and Hampton Avenue in Milwaukee.
Police say the fire may be cooking related because the fire started in the kitchen of one of the apartments on Saturday, February 7th.
Although the fire was maintained to one apartment, there was extensive smoke damage to the building which caused an evacuation of all other residents in the complex.
Authorities say when there is a fire like this, they have to shut off all utilities which is why the other residents needed to be displaced. Those people are now staying in hotels.
There are no injuries reported at this time.
The amount of damage is still under investigation.
