RACINE (WITI) -- Officials in Racine say 25-year-old Garrell Ford of Racine has been charged in connection with a robbery at an auto parts store.
On Thursday November 7, 2013 at 8:05 a.m. officers were dispatched to a commercial robbery at Gordon Auto Parts, 1400 ML King Dr.
A description of the suspect was broadcast.
Within minutes, a responding patrol officer observed a party matching the description a few blocks from the store. The party was entering a residence in the 1400 blk of West St. A perimeter was established and the suspect was quickly taken into custody.
The owner of the store reported that he was opening the business when the suspect entered and inquired about some merchandise.
While the owner gathered the merchandise in question, the suspect shoved the owner to the ground and removed two bank bags from the establishment before fleeing, according to officials.
Evidence from the robbery, including currency and the bank bags was recovered from the home on West St. The owner received minor injuries as a result of the robbery, according to officials.
Ford was charged with robbery and is also being held on a probation/parole violation.
