Man dies from injuries after hit and run

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A Milwaukee man has died from injuries sustained during a hit and run Wednesday night, October 9th after his vehicle was struck by a speeding car that police say was trying to evade them.

The incident happened near the intersection of 50th and Center around 11:45 p.m.

Milwaukee Police say officers were attempting to confront the suspects of a potential drug deal at a gas station on 50th and Lisbon when their vehicle took off at a high rate of speed. Police pursued the suspects but called off the chase after only 20 seconds. Moments later, the vehicle hit another car and the suspects took off.

"A car screeching through 50th like they were trying to hit their brakes but they didn't make it in time," said one witness. "They all got out of the car and started to run in different directions."

Two out of the three men from the vehicle were caught. The man in the other car sustained serious injuries, which he died from a short time later. Police have not identified the victim but friends say he is Marshall Noel.

Alma Burks has known Noel his entire life and says the man struggled with heart problems and wasn't supposed to live past his 18th birthday.

"And then to get killed like this -- it's sad. It's really sad," said Burks.

Police arrested a 21- and 23-year-old man and continue searching for the third suspect. Both suspects in custody were on probation and have lengthy criminal pasts. Officers are still trying to determine who was driving the vehicle.
