WITI-TV, MILWAUKEE -
The undefeated Homestead High School football team earned a (1) seed in the state playoffs, and should've earned home field advantage too. So why did the team kick off the postseason at Custer High School?
The athletic director failed to complete the paperwork saying Homestead was willing and able to host playoff games. So now every Homestead postseason game, will be played on the road.
Wade Labecki of the WIAA said in a statement, "We hold tight to those deadlines. It appears to be inflexible, but it's not. The process started in August. We sent four e-mails and a fax asking for this information. We have 112 sides, we need to assign crews, it's quite a process. When would it stop if we didn't have deadlines."
